NOTTING HILL, LONDON
TERRACE GARDEN
DLX had the privilege of designing the lighting for this captivating Notting Hill Terrace Garden. Our aim was to bridge the boundaries, linking the exterior and interior to create a cohesive and immersive experience for our client. The external steps where the indoors and outdoors met was crucial, downlighting the transitional area with Original BTC Mast Lights in a Polished Bronze to tie in with interior detailing. This helps draw your attention to the connection between spaces and enhance the experience of moving between them. Timeless Copper Border Lights navigate you through the York Stone paved areas and the abundance of greenery, with subtle spotlights, utilised as both up and down lights accentuate the feature trees and low level planting. Original BTC weathered bronze wall lights add interest and further detail to the low level planting around the bespoke perimeter trellis, whilst feature wall and hanging lanterns offer a warm, comforting feel to the property.

A combination of up lights and tree mounted downlights accentuate the planter urns, with hanging star lights adding further interest to the terrace. Charles Edwards floor lanterns create a warm, welcoming feel to the seating area.

ROCKSTAR GAMES, LONDON
ROOFTOP GARDEN
An exciting project on the Kings Road, Chelsea for Rockstar Games Ltd. This challenging yet rewarding project was designed in collaboration with Lulu Roper-Caldbeck, where compliance with regulations was paramount, ensuring the design met the local standards for safety and environmental impact. Our expertise in Lighting Control Systems enabled us to incorporate dimmers, timers and motion sensors into the design, which were all necessary to limit light levels during non-peak hours and to comply with local planning requirements. We took into account not only aesthetic preferences, but also the psychological and physiological impacts of a well designed lighting scheme.

BALHAM, LONDON
LIGHTWELL GARDEN
This exciting lightwell project in Balham, South West London was a real challenge for the team, with a number of tricky elements to consider. Liaison with the main contractor was key in providing a seamless installation. Our goal was to enhance the natural beauty of the lightwell and its architectural elements, whilst providing functional illumination when the natural light diminished. A wide variety of lighting techniques were adopted. Solid Copper recessed Eyelids and recessed Step Markers complimented the stone clad walls and Corten planters beautifully, creating a timeless look once patinated. We softly lit the water feature to aid the tranquillity of running water, whilst gently up-lighting feature multi stem trees to add depth and interest to the varied levels. Recessed up-lights at high level in a narrow beam angle created a dramatic visual from all areas of the property and drew the eye to allow a sense of space and depth from within the lightwell.
MAIDA VALE, LONDON
AN URBAN RETREAT
DLX were appointed for the lighting design for this urban retreat in Maida Vale, London, beautifully designed by George Cullis. We balanced aesthetics, functionality, and the natural environment while ensuring a relaxing and inviting atmosphere to both front and rear gardens. Our aim was to evoke a calm, peaceful and serene environment, perfect for relaxation to get away from busy City life. We achieved this through soft, warm layered lighting with areas of particular interest around the water bowl and upper-level seating areas, where we added a combination of subtle up-lights and feature hanging star lights for visual interest.
